In a perfect world every man would be above his own personal gain and have the honor, integrity and accountability to behave in the greater good of family, nation and the planet as a whole. Although this world of ours IS perfect, unfortunately the behavior of mankind is far from it.
The latest example of selfishness and greed is the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Why would anyone think for an instant that BP, Halliburton and TransOcean would safeguard the drilling process given the option by the Cheney-Bush administration?
But more than that…what does this say about us as stewards of this planet, as a species, that we are capable of making those choices at such high levels…with apparently zero accountability? But they/we are accountable in the larger picture.
The ugly truth of the matter is that this catastrophe (perhaps the worst in our history) could have been avoided with the use of an “acoustics detector” or an “acoustics regulator” (depending on which news report you read). The disaster which is now playing itself out in the Gulf of Mexico might very well have been avoided, had a few men and a few companies did what was proper instead of what was profitable. Those safeguards would have cost an additional $500K – a lot of money in anyone’s book – however, compare that to the clean-up and repair of all injured (if that’s possible).
It’s all about the profit!
According to the Wall Street Journal, Norway and Brazil require these devices in all offshore drilling operations. While they are not required with rigs offshore the U.K., BP elects to deploy them there. BP chose not to equip oil rigs off the coast of the U.S. with acoustic triggers because U.S. regulations enacted in 2003 do not require companies to do so. - Examiner.com
And in the same report (from Examiner.com), it quoted a CBS report:
CBS reported that Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) sent President Obama a letter Thursday reminding him that in 2000 the Interior Department insisted “oil companies have ‘reliable backup systems’ in the event of a rig blowout.” By 2003, the plan was scrapped after a closed-door meeting with energy company executives conducted by then-Vice President Dick Cheney. “This could be one of the world’s greatest nightmare scenarios of an oil gusher,” Nelson said. - Examiner.com
In fact, even though Cheney declared his divestment from Halliburton, it is reported that Vice President Cheney’s Halliburton stock options rose 3,281%!
We all know however, that Rules Are For Suckers!
Rules, laws, societies and what is referred to as civilization are all a facade. Oh sure, you and I must follow these rules, however the power brokers in politics, business and religion all seem to have a pass. They are too big, to powerful, to have anything as restricting as rules slow them down.
All one needs is the right connections and enough wealth and suddenly the rules do not apply. One can invade other countries without valid purpose. One can award lucrative government contracts without accountability. War profiteers are literally able to do harm to our troops without liability.
Please understand me. I do understand that we are dealing with Human Nature. And that is what needs fixing…on mass. There are events that will test our evolution coming upon us quickly.
Whether you are a religious person and anxiously await the second coming of the anointed one or are curiously standing by to see what happens come December 21, 2012…there must be a shift, a change in that Human Nature. Instead of gluttony and a lack of compassion we must evolve to the next step…one where we not only think, but generate our energy from a heart centered place. Caring moderation and empathy for others will, with practice, prepare you for the Christ and/or the change that is about to come.
We are at the threshold of a huge Shift. Our consciousness, awareness and life force will change…change into what we were meant to become…or at least the next step in our evolution. Those not prepared will perish.
